Since Bangladesh gained independence in 1971, the transportation industry has expanded rapidly, and both land-based and river-based modes of transportation have begun to develop. Later, air travel was developed. Despite significant progress in the transportation sector, Bangladesh still suffers from numerous deficiencies that impede the growth of other economic and social sectors. Although land-based transportation has evolved, it still lacks safety standards, putting civilian lives in danger.
