Curaçao KYURE is pronounced -OH, -OW;[7] Dutch: (listen); Papiamento: Krsou, officially known as the Country of Land; Papiamento) is an island nation in the Lesser Antilles that is located about 65 kilometers (40 miles) north of the Venezuelan coast in the Dutch Caribbean and the southern Caribbean Sea. It is one of the Kingdom of the Netherlands' constituent countries. It is part of the ABC islands, which also include Bonaire and Aruba. Curaçao, Aruba, and other Dutch islands in the Caribbean are frequently referred to collectively as the Dutch Caribbean.

From 1815 to 1954, Curaçao was part of the Curaçao and Dependencies colony, and from 1954 to 2010, it was part of the Netherlands Antilles as the Island Territory of Curaçao (Dutch: Curaçao, Eilandgebied, and Panama: Teritorio Insular di Korsou)[13] and is now known as the Country of Curaçao in official documents. It consists of the main island of Curaçao and the much smaller, uninhabited island of Klein Curaçao, also known as "Little Curaçao."[11] Curaçao has a population of 158,665 as of January 2019, according to estimates. with a square footage of 444 km2 Willemstad is its capital.
