Tonga has infrastructure for water, air, and road transportation. Tonga has 680 kilometers of highways, 184 of which are paved, and numerous air and seaports.
Tonga is home to three harbors: Neiafu, Nukualofa, and Pangai, and the nation's merchant marine consists of seven ships larger than 1,000GT with combined masses of 17,760GT. There is a bulk ship, a cargo ship, a liquefied gas ship, a petroleum tanker, and a roll-on/roll-off ship, according to type.
According to estimates from 1999, Tonga has six airports. Only Tongatapu's Fuaamotu International Airport is one of these with paved runways. One of the remaining airports has runways that are longer than 1,524 meters, two have runways that are longer than 914 meters, and the remaining two have runways that are shorter than 914 meters. Nuku'alofa used to have a railway, but it is no longer in use.
